President-General of the Nigeria Football and other Sports Supporters Club, Dr. Rauf Oladipo, has condemned, in strong terms, the Super Eagles’ rebellion over financial entitlements ahead of tomorrow’s crucial Round of 16 fixture against France.
Speaking at a world press conference in the city of Brasilia, yesterday, Ladipo described the players’ agitation for allowances as ill-timed and most unpatriotic, stressing that the players should be proud to represent their fatherland in a global tournament such as the World Cup.
“I wish to condemn in strong terms the players’ rebellion over allowance because it is very unpatriotic and a national embarrassment. Besides, it is ill-timed considering that we have a crucial match against France on Monday (tomorrow)” the Supporters Club boss noted.
“I’m happy that Mr. President has intervened in the matter and I expect the players to concentrate on their preparation for the game against France. With the assurance coming from President Goodluck Jonathan, I expect the Super Eagles to be inspired and highly motivated to go all out against France and make the Nigerians proud by beating France to move to the quarterfinal of the World Cup” Ladipo said.
IMO, why can’t they pay them? Why do they have to be in this situation? Smh
