Famous thespian, Alhaja Khadijat Temitayo Odueke, better known as
Sikiratu Sindodo, has confirmed her dalliance with top fuji act, Alhaji
Sulaimon Adekunle Alao, popularly addressed as Malaika. But she refuted
the tale that they will soon walk down the aisle.
The Ijebu Ode, Ogun born actress opened up to ENCOMIUM Weekly recently.
She also spoke on other issues including her new movie, Apata, billed to
be launched in the United Kingdom on Friday, March 28, 2014.
There is nothing wrong with my career. It’s going on fine. I thank God for that.
But people are saying you’re not appearing in movies as before…
(Cuts in quickly) Maybe they are not buying those ones I featured. I
appear in movies regularly. I have done a lot of movies in recent times.
For instance, I featured in Yomi Gold’s movie, Ope Aiyeola’s movies
and many more. So, those saying that I am not appearing in movies
anymore are not correct.
What are you working on right now?
I just finished shooting my latest movie, Apata. Very soon it will be launched in the UK.
Who is footing the bill or you’re going to single handedly sponsor the premiere?
I am doing the premiere and the launching myself but it’s going to be packaged by B & S Promotions based in the UK.
When is it taking place?
It will hold on Friday, March 28, 2014.
Few days back, there was a social media report credited to you that you have qualities of a good wife…
(Cuts in) I didn’t say or post anything like that. In fact, I don’t know
who came up with the stuff. So, it’s a fake story. I am not married
yet but I may get married tomorrow or next. I am not God, anything can
happen. What’s sure is that I am going to get married but I can’t say
exactly when it’s going to happen.
Okay, can you tell us some of the qualities of a good wife that you think you possess?
I know I have good attitude but I don’t know what the man that will marry me will want in a woman he will like to marry.
But apart from your attitude, you still have good looks. Don’t you think that may even be a better point of attraction?
It doesn’t matter, my husband-to-be may not be interested in my looks.
It may be only my attitude that may interest him. It may be the way I
cook or even my sex style (laughs). So, it depends on what my would-be
husband prefers.
Is it right to say Sikiratu Sindodo is searching?
No, I am not but I am still single.
Does that mean there is a man rocking your world at the moment?
Yes.
Can you unveil the identity of the lucky man?
No, that’s not necessary for now.
Why?
He doesn’t enjoy that kind of a thing.
Is there any regret about your past relationships?
Nothing like that at all.
Do you think being a single mother is affecting your career?
In what way? No, I am okay with my career. I don’t have any problem as a single mother.
Is it true that you have rekindled your romance with Alao Malaika, and
that you’re getting married soon? What’s your reaction to this?
Some people called asking me if it’s true that I am getting married to
Alao Malaika soon, I told them I am not getting married anytime soon.
But it’s true you’re dating Alao Malaika?
Yes.
Will it lead to marriage as being bandied?
That’s what I don’t know.
Let’s talk about your beautiful daughter – how old is she and what is she doing at the moment?
Please, leave my daughter out of any discussion. I don’t discuss her on
the pages of magazines or newspapers. She should be left alone. Let
her enjoy her privacy.
Would you like her to be an actress as well?
I said I am not talking about my daughter. She is free to choose her career. I don’t need to dictate to her.
Let’s go back to your career. It’s obvious that movies are not selling
anymore and yet you’re among the actresses who are swimming in fortunes,
what’s the secret?
There is no any other secret than God. Then, hard work.
But movies are not selling, where does the hard work come in?
It’s true movies are not doing well as before due to the activities of
pirates who are reaping where they didn’t sow. But we can’t stop
producing because we don’t have any other means of livelihood. We just
have to continue. Then, be prayerful.
What do you think can be done to address the situation?
The government should wade in before the whole industry collapses
totally. It’s obvious that things are not easy in the industry now.
All the movie marketers have tried to curb piracy, artistes have also
done their best, all to no avail. So, it’s only the government that can
help us so that all our labour would not be in vain.
What’s your comment on the crisis in the Association of Nigeria Theatre
Art Practitioners, which has now given birth to new association,
including The Movie Ambassadors (TMA), which you belong?
I think we have a publicist, Yomi Fabiyi. I don’t need to comment on
anything concerning that. If you want to know anything about The Movie
Ambassadors and any other related matter, ask Yomi Fabiyi. He is our
spokesperson.
